nan's life in all the words.

the party.

I love Faye, Logan, and Caden. I really do. But I am this close to instituting a permanent ban on them coming over for dinner. I made a huge pot of chili tonight. A vegan version for them, and a regular version for me and the kids. You’d think I asked them to eat glass. Faye made this huge dramatic sigh when I put some cheese on my bowl, and then Logan started in on the dairy industry again. I just cut them off. I told them I respect their choices and I advocate for animal rights too, but I am a cancer survivor and I eat what my body tells me it needs. I am not doing the purity test thing. I just won’t. It turned into a whole argument, the 14-year-old rolled his eyes so hard I thought he’d pass out, and the 9-year-old just asked if he could eat in his room. We ended up playing board games and pretending it didn’t happen, but ugh. It’s exhausting. I can be pro-LGBTQ+, anti-war, hate bigotry, and still eat a piece of cheddar cheese. It shouldn’t be this hard.
