halloween planning

I am elbow deep in updating the blog’s CSS for the Halloween season and it is taking me entirely too long. I want the site to look perfectly spooky but still retain that clean, mid-90s web aesthetic that I love so much. I miss the old days of the web, when everything felt personal and handmade. I’ve been blogging on and off since then, and sometimes I feel like a dinosaur. To reward myself for staring at code all morning, I took the subway down to a vintage shop I love. The arthritis was forgiving today, thankfully. I actually managed to find a genuine 1960s black mourning coat that fits me like a glove. It’s dramatic, it’s slightly morbid, and it is absolutely perfect. The kids think I’m ridiculous, especially the older girl who insists I look like an extra from The Addams Family, but she uses my pronouns flawlessly and defends me to anyone who stares, so I let her tease me. I can’t wait to wear this coat to work at the coffee bar and absolutely terrify the morning rush crowd.
